When your child is struggling, life can feel frightening and isolating. This is calm structured guidance from someone who truly understands, who will help you feel supported and informed.
I am a parent first. Before this work, I had a professional career outside healthcare. Everything changed when my child developed severe and debilitating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
For many years, OCD dominated our family life. My child missed a few years of school and our days were shaped by fear, uncertainty and exhaustion. However, following specialist treatment has since made a full recovery.
Four years ago I started working as an NHS Parent Peer Support Worker in the National and Specialist OCD, BDD and Related Disorders Clinic at the Maudsley Hospital with the team with whom we received treatment.
Beyond my role in the NHS, I am deeply committed to the broader landscape of OCD advocacy and education.
I am dedicated to raising awareness and improving the lives of those living with OCD and their families. I work to champion the voice of the parent in the wider conversation around mental health recovery.
I have spoken at conferences and training sessions for clinicians and educators, sharing a unique parent perspective to help understanding of family dynamics.
I consult on the development of parent-centred support materials, ensuring resources for families are practical, empathetic, and grounded in reality.
"This is not therapy and it is not a casual chat. Sessions are purposeful conversations focused on helping you feel steadier as a parent."
Drawing on professional Peer Support practice, I offer guidance, perspective and space when everything often feels overwhelming.
* Please note: although I am a trained Peer Support Worker, I am not a clinician and therefore unable to advise on specific clinical matters.
"It’s easy to lose hope. This initial conversation restored a sense of hope that things can be different."
